Meet the Blogger: Introducing Alexa

Who are some of your favorite bloggers? I try to follow as many as I can because they have so much wisdom to pass on. (Including bloggers like Alexa!)

That’s what gave me the idea for this interview series. I wanted to glean as much knowledge as I could from those much wiser than me.

This is our seventh installment of my interview series, Meet the Blogger, all about Alexa, a fellow blogger. (You can read our previous installment here:

Interview series questions- Meet Alexa

First of all, tell me a little about yourself.

My name is Alexandra Jade, Alexa, or Alex for short. I’m a 27, a little bit crafty and a blogger. I’m obsessed with Disney and friends!

What is your connection to the blogging and/or mental health community?

I run a blog called The AlexaJade Blog where I share my experiences with life and mental health, and even my nar. I have severe anxiety and panic disorder. The blogging and mental health community on Twitter is so special to me. I hope by sharing my own experiences someone else can value them.

What is the hardest part about having a successful blog?

Giving your blog the attention it really needs to grow. It’s the most time consuming part and for your blog to be as successful and full of energy as you want it to be, you need to put as much time in as possible. Which I don’t always have due to health.

What is the biggest challenge the mental health community faces currently?

Being understood. There are still so many people that really do not understand what mental health even is, yet alone how to deal with anybodies needs, including their own. It saddens me that there is still so much judgement, and negative behaviour towards the mental health community.

What are 5 things many people do not know about you?

  • I’m a crafter and I love spending hours at my desk on craft. I find weeding Vinyl so bloody relaxing!
  • I’m obsessed with colour co-ordination and it gives me anxiety when I can’t get it right!
  • I’m an open person but more so if ask me and I will tell you and I will be honest, but otherwise I keep myself pretty quiet in person.
  • I love country music!
  • I own about 4 in use planners, and over 100 notebooks!

What is your favorite book and why?

#Girlboss. I find Sophia so bloody inspirational! I found myself clinging to every single word as I was reading. Also, I love motivational speakers, and I am a sucker for a good motivational book to read.

What do you do when you are having a really hard day to lift your spirits?

I tend to get stuck in to my craft or my projects, they are time consuming but things that I love. I am a very crafty person, and I do find getting into something fiddly and complex, that I am able to really distract me from myself.

What makes a person brave?

I literally think I will be able to write a book one day on the dramas I have had go on. so It has to be my many experiences. I have been through so many random things already, and I am only 27!

What 3 words would you use to describe yourself and why?

Unique, I mean because you would definitely never find another one of me. I come with many good features you know! I am creative, that’s for sure. my cousin nicknames me the Pinterest lady! because I like to create things myself, not just buy them.  The world is my canvas, hey!

What is your biggest flaw?

Putting myself down is one of my biggest flaws, I am in no way a confident person and my confidence does seem to get the better of me 9 times out of 10.

What is your greatest strength?

I really had to think about this one. I am actually really persistent, I won’t give up on challenges very easily.  Even when I am being put down I try a million different ways to succeed at something before I give up completely.

What is your best childhood memory?

The best childhood memory I can think of right now, me and my family were at a fun day, and they had a big dryer spinning wheel ride thing. Well I of course insisted that me and my dad should go on this ride. So as soon as the wheel started spinning I screamed and cried wanting to get off, dad was next to me helping me stay stable, we got off the ride and I threw straight up. It was hilarious though I promise!

Where do you envision your blog in 5 years?

I would love it to still be going, that would be a great start. I also would love to be reviewing products and working with brands! as I am yet to do that!

Where do you see the mental health community in 5 years?

By then I feel that the community will have grown massively, with so many more people speaking up and sharing their own mental health with us.
